Forth Bridge becoming a World Heritage Site

After having been included, together with five other Scotland’s sites, on a 38-item UK longlist in 2010, having made it, together with two of the five, on an 11-item shortlist in 2011, and finally having been nominated for UNESCO’s World Heritage Site status in 2014, the ‘iconic’ cantilever bridge, indubitably one of the world’s most photographed ones, duly received the honour last month.

Back in 2010 I mentioned that in my opinion, of the Scottish candidates the bridge deserved the award the most. Obviously others thought so as well. I also mentioned that for personal reasons I would like St Andrews to receive it more. Maybe next time round?
