In June, a two-week trial in Blairgowrie meant switching off the traffic lights at Wellmeadow (basically the town centre of the Blairgowrie and Rattray twin town). The results confirmed that (counter-intuitively) traffic flows more freely with less delays when the lights are off, so off they will stay.

I was particularly interested in this as, first, Blairgowrie and Rattray was where I was accommodated during my 2010 Scottish holidays, and as, second, after all I’m nominally a road engineering graduate.
