In general, I have a bit of a love-hate syndrome when it comes to Google. Nevertheless, my answer to the question “Google Glass – will we love it or hate it?” in the title of a recent BBC article is “Neither, I could hardly care less”.
No doubt it is an interesting contraption for people who are crazy about what technology can produce. No doubt there will be people wearing it to show that they are “in”. I wouldn’t overestimate the effect on our privacy either: at worst, it will just make some unpleasant things, already achievable without it, a little easier.
But from what both the supporters and the opponents in the article tell me about it, using it as a part of everyday life would bring much more inconvenience than comfort to those of us who still maintain that technologies should serve humans, not the other way round.
