The UN say that one sixth of the world’s population is undernourished.
BBC: Global hunger worsening, warns UN
The FAO says 1.02 billion people undernourished worldwide in 2009 represent more hungry people than at any time since 1970. However, they don’t say how many it was 1970, when there were 3.69 billion people in the world, as opposed to today’s 6.71 billion.
And anyway, why do they have to continue to “breed like vermin”, to quote Christopher Isherwood’s Mr Lancaster, making the vicious circle go on and on? Waiting for a Father Christmas coming from the so-called “industrialised countries”?
